North Carolina beat Villanova, 83-69, in the second national semifinal to earn a trip to the NCAA basketball championship contest. The Tar Heels will try for their second title in five years Monday.

Michigan State beat Connecticut, 82-73, to reach the NCAA tournament championship game. Kalin Lucas scored 21 points for the Spartans. They last won the championship nine years ago.

Sophomore sensation Maya Moore and coach Geno Auriemma give Connecticut a sweep of The Associated Press' Player and Coach of the Year awards.

Blake Griffin was voted college basketball player of the year by the Associated Press. The Oklahoma star led the nation in rebounds. Bill Self of Kansas was voted college coach of the year by the AP.
