New Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick has broken with his school's tradition of saying little about the job security of coaches, and for Charlie Weis that's a good thing.
Swarbrick, appointed in July, says Weis and his struggling football program won't be evaluated until the season ends. In remarks to ESPN.com's Joe Schad, Swarbrick said flatly that a coaching change is "not under consideration at this time."
Notre Dame is 5-4 this year and 27-19 overall in Weis' four seasons. Weis' predecessor, Tyrone Willingham, was fired after compiling a 21-15 record in three seasons.
Notre Dame AD says Weis is safe for now....
